Who I am

I am an independent gambling analyst based in Sydney. I have spent eleven years opening accounts at casinos that accept Australian players, funding them with my own money, playing them properly and then writing down what happened. Not what the operator's press page said would happen — what actually happened, including the parts that were dull, slow or annoying.

My background is not in marketing. I came to this through data: a decade of building reports for companies that needed to understand payment flows and customer behaviour, which turned out to be exactly the skill set required to read a casino cashier honestly. When a platform tells me a withdrawal is "instant", I do not argue with the adjective. I time it, twice, and publish the number.

Everything on this site is written by me. There is no content team, no rewriter and no syndicated review text bought by the word. If a page here says something is verified, it means I opened the thing and looked at it.

Track record

How I got here

2015 — first reviews

Started documenting offshore casinos for Australian players after watching a mate lose a four-figure withdrawal to a name-mismatch rule nobody had explained to him. That is still the single most common trap I write about.

2017 — payments focus

Moved from "which pokies are fun" to "which platforms actually pay", building a standard test: deposit small, deposit large, withdraw at the floor, withdraw at volume, and time every step.

2019 — bank rails

Covered the shift in Australian casino banking as card declines rose and bank transfer took over from the card schemes. Watched a lot of operators handle that transition badly.

2021 — NPP and PayID

Rebuilt the methodology around real-time payments. PayID changed what "fast" means here, and it exposed which operators had built proper local plumbing rather than bolting on a processor.

2023 — BetStop

Started including national self-exclusion and deposit-limit tooling in every assessment, because a review that ignores harm minimisation is not a complete review.

2026 — Asian-market platforms

This year has been operators like WaBoom77 that come from a Southeast Asian tradition rather than a European one: SMS accounts, fish tables, turnover rebates instead of welcome matches.

Method

How I test a casino

Every platform I write about goes through the same sequence, and I do not publish until all of it is done.

  1. Open a real account. My own identity, my own phone number, my own bank. No demo mode, no comped balance, no press access.
  2. Deposit at the floor first. Whatever the minimum is, that goes in first, through the channel most Australians will actually use. If a AUD 10 deposit is awkward, a AUD 500 one will be worse.
  3. Play the lobby properly. At least thirty days, across every category the platform offers, logging turnover by game type rather than guessing at it afterwards.
  4. Withdraw twice. Once at the minimum, once at a meaningful amount. Time both from submission, not from whatever status label the operator displays.
  5. Read every promotion line by line. Percentages, thresholds and thresholds' effective rates. If the effective rate falls as you spend more, I say so.
  6. Test support cold. Business hours and the middle of the night, with awkward questions — how exactly is the rebate calculated, what happens if the account name does not match.
  7. Check the licence claim. If an operator asserts a licence, I look for it. If it does not hold one, I write that plainly instead of leaving a comfortable silence.
What I will not do. I do not accept payment to change a rating. I do not publish licence numbers, provider lists or bonus figures I have not seen on the operator's own site. And I do not quietly delete criticism after a brand complains — if I get something factually wrong I correct it and say what changed.

Guides on this site

WaBoom77 review

The full assessment: what the platform is, what it pays, the offshore licensing position and who it actually suits. Start here if you are deciding whether to open an account.

Pokies

BOOONGO, JILI, Gamzix, REDGENN and Aristova — how the reel lobby is built, what the daily free spins are worth and the bankroll rule that keeps Hold-and-Win sessions sane.

Live casino & fish games

Streamed roulette, blackjack and baccarat alongside JILI fish shooting tables, with an honest comparison of what an hour of each actually costs.

Promotions

Every offer transcribed from the operator's own promo page, including the ranking ladders where the effective rate gets worse as you deposit more.

Payments

PayID, cards, Apple Pay, AmoPay, AGXGPay and USDT — limits, timings, the name-matching rule and why the cashier wants odd amounts with cents.

Registration, login & mobile

SMS account setup, the five ways a phone-based login breaks, and how to install the mobile build on Android and iPhone without an app store.

Where I stand on gambling

I write about casinos. I am not an advocate for them. Every product covered on this site is designed with a mathematical edge in the operator's favour, and no amount of strategy, rebate percentage or timing changes that arithmetic over a long enough sample. If a page here helps you play a little more cheaply and a lot more knowingly, it has done its job. If it convinces you that you have found a way to win, I have written it badly.

I also think an honest reviewer has an obligation to say the unglamorous part out loud. Gambling harm in Australia is not a marginal issue, and the tools that help are free and effective: deposit limits set before a session rather than during one, time-outs, and BetStop, the national self-exclusion register that blocks licensed Australian operators in a single request. Gambling Help Online is on 1800 858 858, twenty-four hours a day, and speaking to them costs nothing and tells no one.

If you take one thing from anything I have written, make it that paragraph rather than a bonus table.

Contact and corrections

If something on this site is factually wrong — a limit that has changed, a promotion that has been withdrawn, a channel that no longer exists — I want to know, and I will correct it with a note saying what changed and when. Operators are welcome to point out errors of fact. They are not welcome to request the removal of accurate criticism, and I have not removed any yet.
